Two Universities have been denied CACREP accreditation

Lamar University and Sonoma State University lose CACREP credentials

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, or CACREP, certifies 869 programs in the United States and around the world.

Unfortunately as of this writing, Lamar University and Sonoma State University are no longer included in that number. Here’s the official ruling from CACREP:

The continued accreditation of the following specializations was denied, and expires as of the date indicated: Lamar University, TX Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Accredited through December 19, 2020)

The continued accreditation of the following specializations was denied, and is currently under appeal: Sonoma State University, CA Clinical Mental Health Counseling School Counseling
